July 2009 - we are thrilled to have been included in the new Rough Guide “Clean Breaks” book.  In writing this book the authors have highlighted 500 fantastic places across the globe which will inspire people to see the world in a new light, selecting unusual holidays and alternative ways to travel which make a real difference to the lives of local people and the planet.  Le Camp qualified for a special recommendation, which highlights us as one of the author’s favourites.

We are pleased to have been included in Alistair Sawday's latest guide "Green Europe - Special Places to Stay".  The guide is one of the first of its kind and is aiming to become the benchmark for the future of ecotourism in Europe. Quote from the editor "I am really impressed with the steps you have taken towards protecting the environment and our inspector sang your praises. Your guests are very lucky!".

Watercolour painted and gifted to Le Camp by one of our lovely guests, Stewart Goldie-Morrison. It shows the Big Yurt and of course the incredible talent of our resident artist. Thanks again Stewart.

The Big Yurt, Le Camp 2008

   May 2008

Le Camp welcomed 15 kids from the local nursery to spend a morning enjoying nature and sunshine.  After a paddle in the pool and a bounce on the trampoline they enjoyed donkey rides on 'Loulutte', the donkey that lives up the hill.

Le Camp announces the completion of its natural swimming pond.  Although this is one of France's first pools of this kind, the concept of swimming in clean, fresh water goes back to prehistoric times.  As with a natural lake, plants and gravels will clean the water by breaking down all organic matter and turning it into nutrients.  Much better for both swimmers and the environment since it completely removes the need for any chemical sterilization.

This has been a challenging project, not only because of the scale and size of the pool, but also because we are pioneering a new concept in regional France - and so finding people to work with us with the right skills and know-how, overcoming planning hurdles and managing the project has been difficult.  We are pleased with the end result, as we have created a chemical free swimming area that truly blends with the beautiful surrounding environment at Le Camp. Swimming in fresh clear water is a real luxury rarely experienced by people today. Enjoy.
